Training Program

The training program at the ECU Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD) accepts applications for trainees each spring semester to start in the fall of the upcoming academic year. Currently, we only offer training placements to ECU graduate students.

Our opportunities include yearlong training (fall and spring semesters) in general mental health counseling and alcohol & other drug treatment. Practicum training opportunities in alcohol & other drug treatment are offered during the fall semester.

Trainees at CCSD are involved in the following activities:

  • Structured BASICS assessment & follow up
  • Individual counseling
  • Group counseling
  • Workshops
  • Outreach
  • Supervision & training seminars

Trainees are required to attend Friday morning training seminars from 9 a.m. -10:30 a.m. Trainees are required to attend a two-day orientation prior to the start of the fall semester.

Our supervising staff include licensed psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, and licensed clinical addictions specialists.

To be considered for a training position at CCSD please fill out this training program application (DOC) and email it to the Training Director, Hillary Liles, at lileshi@.ecu.edu. Applications may be submitted between March 1 – April 1. Applicants under consideration will be offered an interview following April 1.
